Maximize the function of your space

You have decided to get your space organized, but where do you start? Whether you want to organize your home office, business, pantry or basement, the first thing you should consider is the functional needs of your space and what you want your space to do for you.

Your space should make sense for you. For example, if you are reorganizing your pantry, place your least used supplies on the top shelf. The items you use the most should be easily within reach.  Do you use the kitchen table specifically for dining or does it double as a work space? Does your laundry room also store all of the shoes? These questions should be considered before actively organizing your space. If you have a functional space at home or work, your productivity will increase because all of your items will have a location and will be easy to find.

One way to discover the limitations of your space is by taking everything out. By doing this, you can easily find items you already want to get rid of as well as being able to access the needs of your space. An empty room will also allow you to easily take measurements of your space for possible organizers, shelving, and storage containers.

If you want extra help evaluating your space, select an organizational professional that will listen to your needs and have structured conversations with you about your space. An organized space is your home’s most valuable asset and your space can be easily maintained if it’s personalized to fit your wants and needs.
